That's Mandarin School in Beijing has a very welcoming environment, and has staff that make it fun to learn Chinese. I would give them 5 stars for this because of their effort to make learning Mandarin exciting and for their good attitudes towards teaching.

Great school. I spent an entire month here in 2017 studying simplified Chinese. The teachers and staff were very professional and I got a lot out of my time here. Thanks so much for pushing me to the next level TM . They gave a very modem approach to teaching that I found very effective.

Had a great time during my 3 months course with Thats Mandarin Beijing! The classes are fun and engaging, my chinese has improved from mere beginner to intermediate within such a short span of time. Despite being in a group class, Teacher Wen did a great job by tailoring to each of our learning needs. Will definitely be back for classes if I am back in Beijing!

I took classes for about a month with a friend. In that time we got a good introduction to Chinese tones and vocabulary; however, the more impressive feature was getting to know the background of Chinese characters. Our teacher was accommodating with our questions and patient with our mistakes.

I took lessons at That's Mandarin for three months, twice weekly in small group classes. The classes are very personalized as you can create your own vocabulary lists based on what you want to learn. In each lesson, the teacher types new vocabulary, sentences, and sentence structures in an online program that is accessible to the students after class. My Mandarin has greatly improved in such a short time and the teachers have given me confidence in my ability to speak more proficiently. I highly recommend Wen Laoshi for her enthusiasm and ability to accommodate students of varying levels.

Really enjoyed my month of study here! Staff was very supportive and professional. My teacher Ms. Wen (Wen Laoshi) has a great teaching method, and felt even in a group class the content was appropriate for my level. Also had a lot of fun in class and met some nice classmates.

Hallo. Last year in december I started with one on one classes at TM. As at the Moment I can only come once or twice a Month To Beijing I am very pleased the Way all the Office staff handle my requests. Especially Gabriella and Kitty. The learning Methode with the Computer is very interesting. And as up to now I find all the Teachers very helpful and can help you make good progress. The only negative side so far: the Price for the Lessons is quite high. Hanspeter

that's mandarin has helped me exponentially improve my Chinese speaking ability from nothing within just two months. The online account logs all of the vocabulary and grammar you have learnt so if you're pedantic, like me, you can look over it and practice the tones to perfection. All of the teachers are very friendly and always willing to help making learning less of a chore.

I took one-on-one classes (3 classes per day for 4 months) at the Beijing school and the Shanghai school. It was quite a pleasant experience. The teachers are very adaptive and helpful to their students and their learning needs. Although, i was probably learning too quickly for my own good as i learned a lot but found it very hard to completely grasp the thought process of the language. I would recommend less classes over a longer period of time.

I have been having lessons at That's Mandarin for a year. I started off with absolutely no knowledge of Mandarin at all and it was very daunting! My teacher has been the same teacher the whole way through which has made the process much more personal and comfortable. The lessons are fun, interesting and engaging. The style of teaching builds on your gained experience/confidence. If I have ever ask my teacher to teach me something/show me something in particular, she has always been really helpful and positive. She quickly built up my confidence with Mandarin which made me much more enthusiastic to learning it! The admin & organisation is also good. There's no denying that learning a new language (especially Mandarin) is inherently difficult and requires a lot of input from the learner, but the teachers at TM really do help to support this. I really enjoy the teaching and lessons here.

I took one-on-one classes for four months at the Beijing school. The school's atmosphere is nice with plenty of tea/coffee if you want to spend some time studying before/after class.
The teachers are all very friendly and professional. I found their teaching style to be very natural and felt my speaking/listening ability improved a lot in the time I was there. They were also happy to change teaching topics depending on my needs/goals.
If I had to give any criticism it would be that I did not find the online app mandarincafe to be extremely useful and I ended up using the printed notes I was given, as well as supplementing with flash cards and apps like Pleco.
However, overall it was an excellent decision and I am very happy with my progress.

I really liked the fact that I could tailor my learning to the actual scenarios I experienced. The teachers I had were always willing to help me say the sentences I wanted to learn. Teaching me the proper sentence structure and parts of speech was also very helpful to know. I found it very helpful when one of my teachers encouraged me to try to speak in Chinese the whole time and she would use Chinese majority of time to speak to me even when to explain what a word means. Use of hand gestures and pictures without using English was also very helpful. Typing out all the sentences and words we talked about is very useful. Asking me to translate the pinyin to English and English to pinyin is a good teaching technique. I like that coffee, tea, and water is provided.
